Membership at Starr King Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is open to anyone sixteen years or older regardless of class, nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, who is in accord with the principles of the Fellowship.
To borrow a phrase: It is time to join when you no longer feel like a visitor or a newcomer.
In the spring and in the fall of each year a Path-to-Membership class is held for newcomers or others who wish to know more about Starr King. The focus is on the historic roots of Unitarian Universalism, the history of Starr King, its current activities and programs, opportunities to learn and opportunities to serve. Some newcomers feel ready to join the Fellowship right away. Others prefer to wait several months while attending services and participating in activities and programs. The best time is when you feel ready. Members covenant to support each other and the work of the Fellowship by sharing their time, talent and treasure. This committed relationship involves rights and responsibilities.
A Friend of Starr King is one who is in accord with the principles but not ready to join as a member. A Friend may participate in all activities, programs and committees but may not chair a committee, serve on the Governing Board or vote on policy at congregational meetings.
